The Dockside Cabin at Garden Valley Golf Resort
LOCATION:
Lindale, Texas
DESCRIPTION:
Jim Wilson Architects designed the Dockside Cabin for the Garden Valley Golf Resort, a private residence club in East Texas. The duplex cabin sits among tall trees on the shores of a private lake and faces the 18th hole of one of Texas' premier, semi-private golf courses. Flanking a traditional dog-run entry, the two 1,200 square-foot units each contain a large, family-style Living / Dining Room complete with a built-in breakfast nook, wood-burning fireplace, flat-screen TV, and a hidden Murphy bed that pulls down for additional sleeping comfort. Additionally, each unit has its own Kitchen, Master Bedroom and Bathroom Suite, and a second-floor Bedroom and Private Bath. Special care was taken in the design process to preserve much of the natural wooded landscape, and, though full of completely modern conveniences, the structure was designed to be reminiscent of its historical context. As the first cabin built in the development, the design serves as a model for future residences.
